Competition Process  -  How does it work?

  • Each month we will initiate at least one new artistic competition, for example a short story, poem, short film etc.

  • You will not know before the commencement of that competition what type of competition it will be or the theme or topic that must be covered.

  • You will have one month (approx 4 weeks) to submit your entry to this competition.

  • Once your entry has been submitted other people can vote on it. The earlier you get your entry in the more chance it will have of getting voted on.

  • As there will be many entries for each competition each entry will contain a small abstract taken from the whole work. This will be the advertising for the potential voter and will allow them to choose whether they want to review the whole entry.

  • At the end of one month (approx 4 weeks) the entries will be closed. The voting period will continue for 2 more weeks. This will allow late entries a chance to to be voted on.

  • Voters do not have have to be entered in any of the competitions.

  • Voters can vote for as many entries as they like. Frivolous voting will be tracked though and could result in a voter being barred from the website. A voter can also vote for their own competition entry.

  • Once an entry has been voted on it cannot be voted on again by the same voter.

  • At the end of the 2 week voting period the top 20 entries (according to the votes) will be given to a judging panel who will select the winning entries.

  • If the competition does not generate 20 entries the winning entry will be selected by the public vote and hence a judging panel will not be used.

  • The number of awards (and prize money) will be determined by the number of entries (at set points)

  • Author details are not displayed until the final 20 entries are chosen and voting has been closed.

  • Generally 4 charities will be selected for each competition.

  • As a vote is made for a competition entry the voter will be asked to choose one of the charities as their charity of choice.

  • The number of votes that each charity receives at the end of the competition will determine their percentage of the final donation pool. (More information here)

  • The number of entries in each competition determines the total prize pool and the total donation pool.

  • A percentage of each entry is allocated to the donation pool and the prize pool (see dollar breakdown table here).

  • As the entries increase (at set points) the percentage increase for both the donation pool and prize pool.

  • If (of course it will) the World Change Now website becomes popular we will be changing the percentages so that even more is given to charity and prize money.

  • Look at the table for the dollar breakdown here.
